Firewall
The Firewall section provides access to your system security settings. The system incorporates a professional-grade firewall to help deter outside hackers from accessing your local network. Firewall consists of the following sections: The Summary page contains the Firewall Settings panel. From this page you can see a quick overview of your firewall status. The Firewall Settings section allows you to configure your firewall. Typically, the systems internal firewall software does not need to be configured. Some programs, such as game servers and messaging software, require that other people be given limited access from the Internet to a program on your local network. For example, a game player from across the Internet might need to contact a game server program that you have installed on your local network. Normally, the firewall blocks this communication. By changing the firewall settings, this communication is permitted to pass through a pinhole in the firewall to reach the correct computer. The Firewall Settings section also allows you to configure advanced firewall functions and put a computer on your local network outside the firewall using DMZplus. The Advanced Settings section allows an experienced network administrator to access additional firewall configuration rules. |
